A pedestrian has died after a spring from a metro rail train flew off and struck them

A tragic accident suddenly unfolded during a busy afternoon in Farmgate when a large spring or bearing pad from a metro rail train became dislodged and struck a pedestrian, causing their death.

The incident occurred at around 12:15 pm on Sunday (26 October) in front of the Bangladesh Agricultural Institute. According to eyewitnesses, the metal spring suddenly fell from above and hit the pedestrian on the head.

The man, estimated to be between 35 and 40 years old, died on the spot. Two other people were also injured in the incident.

Bystanders believe the spring weighed at least 40 to 50 kilograms. The force of the impact created panic among people in the surrounding area.

Police sources said the identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed. Following the incident, metro rail authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
