ICC’s chief prosecutor placed on compulsory leave

The Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, based in The Hague, Netherlands, has been placed on compulsory leave. The court decided that he will remain away from office until the investigation into allegations of sexual harassment against him is completed.

The information was reported on Monday (19 May) by Turkey’s state news agency Anadolu.

According to the report, the chief prosecutor has been placed on leave until the investigation by the United Nations Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) reaches its conclusion.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Presidency of the ICC Assembly of States Parties said the investigation is being conducted by OIOS at the request of the Assembly’s Presidency, following consultations with the Assembly’s Bureau.
