Once again, most trains across the country will remain suspended on Eid day. However, as in previous years, Bangladesh Railway has decided to keep a limited number of trains in operation on the day of Eid-ul-Azha.
The information was disclosed in a letter signed by Bangladesh Railway Deputy Director (Traffic Transportation) Md Khairul Kabir on Saturday (17 May). Copies of the letter have already been sent to senior railway officials.
According to the railway’s decision, on Eid-ul-Azha all intercity, mail, express, commuter and local trains under the Eastern Region will remain suspended, except Train No. 1 Up/2 Down (Chattogram Mail) and Train No. 55 Up/56 Down (Bhawal Express).
A special train will also operate on Eid day for the country’s largest Eid congregation at Sholakia in Kishoreganj.
In addition, all intercity, mail, commuter, local and mixed trains under the Western Region will remain suspended on Eid day. Only Train No. 25 (Nakshikantha Express) will operate on the Khulna–Dhaka route on that day.
